Elementary Nordic Recreation Team

Nordic Elementary is often a child’s first experience on skis. Athletes will ski two days a week or as much as is enjoyable. Focus on fun on snow with games and play to enhance skier’s enjoyment and skill on snow. Focus on proper body position through ski play; understanding the importance of teamwork and fair play. Introduction of aspects of Skate and Classic technique and basic fitness training, as well as a general appreciation of and respect for the Nordic equipment

Ages 4-10 (pre-K – 5th grade)
Skill Development Focus Emphasis will be on play, fun, skiing, enjoyment and balance, basic agility and coordination.

Schedule/Sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays for 9 weeks, January 6, 2014 – March 5, 2015
Program Fees Two day $90, one day $60
Ski Passes None
Transportation Not included.
Equipment
  • Skis: skis on one pair of waxless skis, soft flex and between nose and forehead height.
  • Boots: uses boots that are comfortable and warm.
  • Poles: uses one pair of poles for all techniques, or skis with no poles. Poles should fit snugly under the armpit.
  • Ancillary Equipment: Clothing should provide appropriate protection from the elements and keep children comfortable for extended periods of skiing to ensure enjoyment of sport. Eye protection recommended.

* TVSEF has a wide range of boots, skis and poles to fit most elementary athletes for a nominal rental fee.

Work Deposit and Family Participation Positive parental support is essential. Families are encouraged to get involved with club activities and participate in at least one training session a month.
