Alpine Race Team

This team is comprised of 10-15 year olds who have been skiing with a coach for at least 4 years, have at least 5 years in the sport and some experience with ski racing. The Alpine Race Team will spend at least 80% of the time all-mountain skiing and 20% training in gates and developing race skills.

Skill Development/Focus Continued development of sound ski and race fundamentals by skiing a variety of terrain and through drills that refine linked, carved turns. Athletes will be introduced to tactical race skills such as gate blocking, line selection course inspection and terrain anticipation. Coaches will use a variety of course sets, conditions and terrain to teach athletes to adapt to different situations. Athletes will ski all areas of the mountain including hike-to areas and terrain park.
Races Athletes are encouraged to compete in at least 3 races per winter. The Club Series are local, inexpensive, fun races that are a great introduction to ski racing
Schedule/Sessions 2 options, Full Race team Tues & Friday nights at Snowking in addition to 1/2 day Saturday and full day Sunday at Grand Targhee or

Weekend Race team-1/2 day Saturday and full day Sunday at Grand Targhee

Full Race team starts Nov 15th @ Snow King. Weekend Team starts Nov 29th at Targhee

Program Fees $1200 for Full Race team  $999 for day and 1/2 day (1/2 day Saturday, all day Sunday)
Ski Passes Pass prices are not included in program fees. Grand Targhee Jr. Passes must be purchased directly through Grand Targhee Resort. Snow King passes are also recommended, tickets and passes are not included in purchase.
Transportation Available for race travel
  • Skis: One pair of race ski and one pair of powder skis. Develop tuning skills.
  • Boots: Proper boot fit and flex are critical for performance. Boot flexes and responds as it interacts with the ski plate
  • Protection:  Head, arm, hand, shoulder, back, teeth (mouth guard) and shin protection recommended, based on event
  • Poles: GS standard length. SL-pole guard for blocking and protection, pole may be slightly shorter.

License Not required for Club Series races. USSA $80 for USSA/Intermountain Division (IMD) races. IMD $20
Race Travel Expenses Not included in program fees. Local Club Series entry fees $30.
Work Deposit and Family Participation $100 work deposit per family. Families are encouraged to volunteer for race events.
